who we are:

Meet the D'Varga Family

ACTS 1:8 MISSION

SOCIETY was founded by Andy and Priscilla D'Varga in 2016.  The D'Varga family has been on the misison field in Ecuador since April of 2011.  They have three small children - Jude, Samuel, and Elena, all of whom were born in Ecuador.  They are currently serving in and around the city of Catamayo, in Loja province, near Ecuador's southern border with Peru.  Loja province is known to have a Christian population of only %0.01, and very little access to the Gospel of Christ.  The D'Varga family lives in a small town, San Pedro de la Bendita, a place with no gospel presence and where there has never been an evangelical church.  Andy's ministry is pretty varied, and he's generally a jack of all trades when it comes to mission work, but his main focus is evangelism, discipleship, and church planting.  Priscilla's ministry right now is raising and homeschooling their three children, and keeping the family alive!

The goal of Acts 1:8 Mission Society is to follow Jesus and to "be witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth,"  (Acts 1:8, ESV), and to call others to do the same!  As a mission society, our hope and dream is to see many other missionaries join us in the call, and to see the world come to know the saving power of Jesus Christ!

If you feel the Lord speaking to you and drawing you to be saved please read this and seek God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength:

-  The first thing we need to be saved is to have a heart of real hunger and thirst to know God and to be right with God:

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field (Matthew 13:44, ESV).”

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied (Matthew 5:6, ESV).”

- Admit you are a sinner and Confess your sins:

“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (I John 1:8-9).”

-  Repent, or in other words, admit you have no power to change your own life (repent literally means to change your mind from trusting your own thoughts to fully believing God and His Word):

“Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel (lit. the good news) of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel (Mark 1:14-15, ESV).”

-   Let go of bitterness towards others and fully forgive everyone that has hurt you:

“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses (Matthew 6:14-15, ESV).”

-  Cry out and seek God with all your heart:

“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13, ESV).”

-  Confess to others and believe (Put your faith in Jesus as Savior):

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved (Roman 10:9-10, ESV).”

-  Believe He can change you in your spirit and heart and fill you with His Spirit:

“And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules "(Ezekiel 36:26-27, ESV).

”Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John 3:3, ESV)

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.  The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." (II Corinthians 5:17, ESV)

After you pray, confess your sins, seek God for salvation, and believe you have life in Jesus make sure you follow these simple scriptures (these things do NOT save you, but rather are the results of those who truly believe):

Be baptized:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age (Matthew 28:19-20, ESV).”

“And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself (Acts 2:38-39, ESV).”

Read and study God’s word (the Bible):

“Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (II Timothy 2:15, KJV).”

-  Pray Always:

“Pray without ceasing.” (I Thes 5:17, KJV).”

- Find a church and attend regularly:

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (Hebrews 10:24-25, ESV).”

My personal advice:  Find a church and friends that stay in the word, live it out in their personal lives, and preach the word more than they share their own thoughts about the bible.
