Leavin' on a Jetplane

Dear Brothers and Sisters in our Lord Jesus Christ,

Well, the time has come. We’ve been postponing it for a few years but we can’t seem to push it back any longer. As most of you know, our son Samuel was born with a cleft lip and palate. When he was a baby so many amazing people helped us get him to the USA for surgery to fix his cosmetic issues, and part of his palate. Now that he’s ten, he’s finally at the age to have a more serious and intensive surgery and long-term procedure to fix his upper jaw and the cleft in his bone/dental issues. Samuel’s doctors (now practicing in Dayton, instead of Cincinnati) have graciously offered to continue his care, which we are SO grateful for! The difficulty in all this is that the process to undergo his bone graft and dental revision could take anywhere from 8 months to a year or more….which is why we’ve been postponing the procedure as long as possible. All that being said, we have purchased plane tickets to arrive in Southern Ohio next month! We are also all scheduled for Jude to be reassessed for a hemispherotomy (epilepsy brain surgery), so both boys are going to be spending a lot of time going back and forth to Cincinnati and Dayton Children’s hospitals. That means that logistically we have a whole lot to figure out. It looks like we will need a vehicle, one that has the capacity to transport all 5 of us and luggage, which is high on our priority list. If you or someone you know has a spare vehicle that they are willing to loan or sell, please let us know!

Jude's First Youth Conference

We are also going to be traveling as much as possible to various churches in order to try and recruit missionaries to the field. We have big dreams that we believe God gave to us, and in order to make those happen we need help! If you or anyone you know want us to come and give a presentation at your church or want Andy to preach, please have your pastor contact us. We are trying to raise as much awareness as possible of the deep need for committed Christians to give everything up and spread the Gospel where it has never been shared!

Ellie loving life on a llama!

All of this means that we need serious prayer for our local church and work here in San Pedro. We have some help for while we are gone, and have plans to lead service sometimes from the states over Zoom, because we don’t have 100% coverage of someone present for all of our meetings. After seven years of waiting to get to this point in San Pedro with consistent church members, acceptance in the community, etc, it’s difficult to visit the U.S.A. right now, but we know it is really all God’s anyway and He will take care of His church!

Please pray for:

  • Jude: That he would be a successful candidate for this life changing epilepsy surgery. As it stands it is difficult to see how he would be able to be independent because his seizures have been untreatable with medication, and most don't stop without emergency sedation. This is becoming an increasing emotional weight for him and the entire family.

  • Samuel: Samuel’s upcoming surgeries. That he would be brave and prepared to withstand the pain that he will have to endure.

  • Missionaries!!!: Please pray that we would be able to visit many new churches, Bible colleges, Bible studies and/or any other Christian organizations in order to spread the word of the great need here. Pray that people would be stirred to give up everything and come to Ecuador. Also, missionaries specifically to help be teachers for the future school.

  • That the church building would be approved by the local municipality so we can start construction finally, and that we would also get approval for the elementary school we want to found.

  • Our church in San Pedro, that the work here wouldn’t diminish in our absence, but grow!

  • All of us: That we would be able to adjust to the reverse culture shock of being back in the USA for such a long period of time. The children have never spent more than 5 months at a time stateside, so this is a very big stretch for them and us.

Thank you all so much for your continued prayers for us and the ministry these last 12 years. When I say that they have sustained us, I mean it truly. We are so grateful for all of you and your constant love for us and the work here in the south of Ecuador. Lord willing, we’ll be seeing you soon!

With love in Christ,

Priscilla, Andy, and the children
