Spring has Sprung!  He has Risen, He is no Longer here in the Tomb!!!

Sam took full advantage of his mandatory month-long liquid diet with an abundance of milkshakes.

Hello to everyone reading!  We are still in the U.S.A. as most of you know, and we are making progress one thing at a time.  Sam had a successful bone graft surgery on February 26th and the doctors believe it is taking well.  Thanks so much to all of you who prayed for him!  God definitely heard our prayers!  One of his adult teeth has already migrated down into the new bone!  This is amazing and even surprised the doctor that it happened so quickly.  There are still many follow up appointments and orthodontic processes that need to happen, but we are on the right path.  Priscilla is still set to have her surgery on April 25th (after having it rescheduled back in January), so please pray that everything goes well.  The doctors are saying that it will take at LEAST 6 weeks to recover.  Because of this we have purchased tickets to go back to Ecuador in mid-July.  This is to give her time to be able to physically do the things she wants to do after the 6 week recovery time, because she was told no lifting more than 5 lbs. for the entire 6 weeks post surgery. Help us pray that the Lord would provide in all the logistics to get back on the foreign mission field as a family, and that everything we do is 100% in His will and under His blessing!

Here in the U.S. we are staying busy visiting family, friends, and churches, and trying to be productive and enjoy family time away from the ministry that we wouldn’t normally have the time and energy for.  We have had several opportunities to preach in various places and feel like the Lord has used us in that way while here.  We are planning one last road trip to visit a couple churches in early June before heading back to Ecuador, and ask for your prayers.  One prayer request is the need for a road worthy and sufficiently sized vehicle for this trip.  It has been a constant difficulty this time in the U.S. and we simply ask for your prayers!

Ellie and Sam were on one quizzing team, while Jude was on another. Priscilla was the assistant coach for their team. They scored in 5th place in their “bracket”

The family is doing better than ever and the kids are really growing up!  They have all grown at least 6 inches since they arrived here and we are now convinced they are putting something crazy in the food in the U.S.A.…ha!!!  But, they are also maturing quite a bit too.  They all ended up doing absolutely great in their Bible quizzing competition and as could be expected by anyone who knows him, Jude excelled at this type of competition.  Because of his natural gifting at memorization, he was like a Bible quiz superstar.  We have been so proud of all of them and how hard they worked, and how much they learned in such a short time.  We couldn't be more thankful for the Sunday school teachers that taught them and helped motivate them as they went through the competition.  They will benefit for the rest of their lives from this experience!  Thanks for all your prayers for them!

In conclusion, we are planning on heading back to Ecuador for at least 3 years before returning to the U.S. again and ask for your prayers as we prepare for this enormous feat.  A lot of people think that it is just business as usual for us or that it doesn’t cost us a tremendous amount of pain to go because we have been doing this so long.  They would be wrong.  It really is impossible to explain in words what it is like feeling called to go and wanting to go, and at the same time not wanting to go….wanting a “normal” life living among friends and family and in our own comfort zones.  One of the biggest difficulties is dealing with our aging family members and realizing the things that can happen in 3 years while away on the other side of the world.  Who doesn’t want things to be easy in the flesh?  Who wouldn’t struggle with these things?  I just ask for prayers.  Pray we can keep our eyes on eternal things and that the things of this world would grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace!
